My paintings are predominantly inspired by themes of death, rebirth and the land in-between. Heavily influenced by Ancient Egypt and mythology stories from the ancient world. I wish to create a sense of the after life, and an arena of characters who might dwell there.

Each work goes through many transitional layers before arriving at a final conclusion. This working method directs the narrative and final outcome of each piece. Providing the opportunity for happy accidents to occur through the materials used.

Final works usually consist of contemplative characters, lost in thought, looking outwith the scene being presented to the viewer. Something has either happened or is about to happen. There is a sense of purpose. A story untold. Secrets unrevealed. As viewers we are interrupting a specific moment of the drama.
